The Great British Bake Off is once again back on our screens, and alongside the presenters, the new set of bakers and their bakes, it’s the return of the famous tent. A character in its own right that plays a key role in every series and, if you’re anything like us, has you lusting after the KitchenAids and Smeg fridges featured in the show. In fact, from the start of September alone, Google searches for ‘Bake Off oven’ have risen, and we predict the interest in these GBBO appliances will only grow through the course of the new series.
With interiors being a big interest of ours, with the launch of our Property Playground that will help you plan the kitchen you’ve always dreamt of, we decided to find out just how much a fully kitted out Bake Off-inspired kitchen would set you back.
Calculating every ingredient of the famous tent, right down to the £4.00 mixing spoons and £14.95 gingham tablecloths, we looked at the most up-to-date Bake Off series and Tuesday night’s first episode of series five to cost up the kitchen. Coming in at an eye-watering total of £15,414 when based on an average-sized UK kitchen, that money would buy you the very latest in baking technology, including Neff’s iconic Slide & Hide oven and accompanying proving drawer, in addition to the £1,150 Quooker Flex tap.
The £15,000+ kitchen brings home the style too, complete with the shaker-style cupboard doors, bespoke kitchen island and retro duck egg blue fridge.
It goes without saying that due to the high-end appliances, creating a Bake Off-inspired kitchen will require more than a lick of paint and some bunting. However, whether you are looking to spend big for a full GBBO overhaul or simply fancy the odd proving drawer to take your baking to the next level, we hope our findings help you start budgeting.

To compile the costs of the appliances and kitchen styles used within the Great British Bake Off tent, we reviewed episodes from series four of Channel 4’s Great British Bake Off, in addition to the first episode of series five (aired on Tuesday 21st September 2021) to compile a list of each product used. This was then crossed referenced with information from key brands on the exact products that are used within the show to provide the most accurate pricing possible.
As it is currently unclear which fridge freezer is used in series five of The Great British Bake Off, an average cost was compiled using the two brands that have been used for the previous series: Smeg and Gorenje. The kitchen size used to calculate the cost of shaker style cupboards and wooden worktops was based on an average-sized 15m₂ kitchen.
